Schreier Family Photographs

This photograph was taken about 1906. The caption reads "my two sisters, cousin and uncle" and appears to have been written by Amelia Treffeisen (based upon the handwriting). A second inscription which appears to have been written later by Bertha Treffeisen lists Bertha and Emma, 'cousin to Bertha Brown' and 'Ida 2nd husband Rietheimer' and 'Uncle Sam'. The two sisters are Bertha Treffeisen on the far left and Emma Treffeisen on the far right. Ida Schreier married at least twice, to a Mr. Rietheimer by 1891, and to a Mr. Hall. A postcard sent in 1909 by Amelia Treffeisen to Samuel Hall called him 'Uncle'. With these dates in mind, it appears that Ida was married first to a Mr. Rietheimer and later to Samuel Hall. It is likely that he is the 'Uncle Sam' in this photograph. The cousin is unidentified, but could be Mamie, daughter of Ida Schreier Rietheimer Hall. This cousin appears to be older than Bertha. If she is indeed Mamie, then that would indicate that Mamie was the daughter of Mr. Rietheimer and not Mr. Hall.
